Wellness Services Tanzania would like to see HIV / AIDS prevention efforts in the next decade focus on the underlying social and psychological problems which lead to the spread of the virus.
We propose providing treatment and education for the New ABC's and ensuring free, easy access to confidential professional services through an EWP.
THE NEW ABC's- KEY UNDERLYING FACTORS IN THE SPREAD OF HIV / AIDS
A. Alcohol Abuse- Medical and Psychological Services
B. Breakdown in intimate partner relationships- Professional Couple Counselling
C. Children should learn about puberty and sex from their parents- Parental Guidance and Training
These services are not easily available or accessible in Tanzania without a pre-paid Employee Wellness Programme.
Utilization of counselling services is high when Tanzanians have access to these services in the form of a confidential Employee Wellness Programme.
In addition to counselling for the new ABC's, all Wellness Services counsellors are trained in traditional pre and post test HIV counselling. Traditional HIV / AIDS awareness and education is also delivered through telephonic counselling every hour of the day, every day of the year through free calls from mobile phone. It is also can occur during face-to-face counselling which occurs by appointment. Information about free local testing facilities is disseminated and is more cost effective than worksite VCT and with a higher uptake.
World Aids Day posters are distributed to our corporate clients to educate and promote the use of the EWP to combat some of the underling key factors that contribute to the spread of the virus.
